Lewis, Lucy – Bowl with Fineline Interlocking Stars (1960s)

4.5"w x 3.5"h

$ 900.00

This is an intricate fine-line bowl by Lucy Lewis.  She was one of the great Matriarch potters of the past century. This bowl is coil-built, thin-walled, and painted using bee-weed, a plant used to create the black.  The bowl has very thinly painted interlocking stars.  Eight-sided stars are interlocking with four-sided stars.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “Lucy M.  Lewis”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Definitely a classic and a piece of history!
