Rebecca Lucario is known for her delicate and intricately painted pottery.  This is a large seedpot from 1985.  It has two Mimbres lizards painted on the top.  There is a fine-line star in the center. The band around the edge has a lighting and rain pattern.  It is precisely painted.  Simply visually dynamic.  It is signed on the back, “R. Lucario”.  It is in excellent condition with  no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Rebecca Lucario is known for her delicate and intricately painted pottery.  This plate is highly detailed with VERY thin lines. The center of the plate has large Mimbres turtle.  It is surrounded by four smaller Mimbres turtles.  Around the turtles are shard designs. The piece is painted with bee-weed (black) and highlighted with various clays for color.  It is a complex and flowing design around the surface of the piece.  Note the incredible precision of the painting.  Simply visually dynamic.  It is signed on the back, “R. Lucario”.

Rebecca Lucario

Rebecca Lucario is undoubtedly one of the great painters from Acoma Pueblo. She is known for her thin-walled pottery and the intricate designs painted on the surface. She is the granddaughter of Dolores Sanchez and sister of Marilyn Ray, Judy Lewis, and Carolyn Concho. She learned to make pottery from her grandmother Dolores and used traditional designs and Mimbres iconography in her work. Rebecca has won numerous awards for her pottery and featured in multiple books and on the cover of the "Changing Hands" book for the museum exhibition.
