Sergio Lugo is the middle son of noted potter Nancy Youngblood and a brother to Joseph Lugo and Christopher Youngblood.  He learned to make pottery from his mother.  Each piece is coil-built, carved or painted, stone-polished, and traditionally fired. This is one of his exceptional geometric carved pieces. The jar it entitled, “Tewa Limbo”.  It is carved to appear to have a vessel floating inside another vessel!  The piece is carved to have three different layers.  They are slipped with various colors of micaceous clay. The jar is precision-perfect in its carving!   The piece was traditionally fired with a rich coloration. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Sergio Lugo”.
