$ 150.00

Reyes Madelena (b. 1938) learned to make pottery from her grandmother, Benina Medina Madalena (Zia).  Benina married Ramon Madelena from Jemez Pueblo.  Reyes began making pottery in the 1950’s.  This jar is coil built and painted with a complex sun and rain design.  The designs encompass most of the surface of the jar.  Note as well the bit of red clay slip used to highlight the designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Reyes Madalina”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repairs.
