Anita Martinez was a granddaughter of Maria Martinez and a daughter of Santana & Adam Martinez. She was the mother of noted potter Barbara Gonzales and grandmother of Cavan Gonzales. This is an unusual piece of her pottery which is lidded. The bowl is fully polished and painted with a rain and cloud design. The lid is also fully polished. The entire piece is fired a silvery black. Both pieces are signed on the bottom in the clay “Anita Martinez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
