This seedpot by Corn Moquino is black and sienna in coloration. The piece was fully polished, and then etched with the design. There is an eagle landing on a branch etched into the clay. The branch and eagle are two-toned sienna after the firing. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Corn Moquino”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Corn Moquino began making pottery in 1963. He was the son of Benina Moquino (Zia) and a Hopi father. He was married to Christine Herrara (Santa Clara) and created sgraffito pottery at Santa Clara Pueblo. His children Bernice, Melvin, Marvin, James, and Michael are all potters.
