6"w x 9.5"h

$ 1,400.00

Helen “Feather Woman” Naha was known for her traditional white-ware pottery.  This tall canister jar is from the late 1980s.  The shape is a difficult one to create and keep the sides even. The jar is painted with an interlocking flower pattern.  They are at the rim and the base with polished red rainbows. The designs are tightly painted and flow from the neck to the base. The inside is fully polished tan.  The jar is painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip.  It was traditionally fired and there are slight color variations from the firing.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with her hallmark feather.
