Naha, Helen “Featherwoman” – Jar with Six Migration Bands (1980s)

6"w x 5.5"h

$ 1,000.00

This is a complex jar by Helen “Featherwoman” Naha.  It is one of her classic forms and designs from the late 1980s. The jar is fully polished white on both the inside and outside.  Helen would almost always polish the inside of her pottery.  The jar has six bands of “migration” design.  This was Helen’s version of the classic “migration pattern”.  The piece has a lot of thin lines.  Around the neck is a stylized version of her star pattern.  The jar is painted with a red clay for accents and with bee-weed for the black.  The jar is signed on the bottom with a feather, which was Helen’s hallmark.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
