$ 5,200.00

This is a complex large jar by Les Namingha.  The jar is made with traditional Hopi clay and painted with mineral and clay slips. The piece is entitled “Pointilism Progression”, reflecting on the various design traditions in Hopi-Tewa pottery.  The jar is tall and narrow and classic Hopi designs.  They encircle the jar. They are then surrounded by sections of pointilism. They are combinations of two or three different combinations of clay to create various coloration.  What you can’t see in the photos is that the layers of clay for the small dots create a wonderful texture to the surface.  The jar has a round base and Les also made a clay ring for the jar to sit on.  It is a visually striking jar with complicated designs.  The complexity and fluid designs are a hallmark of Les’s painting strength. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.   It is signed, “Les Namingha”.
