Namingha, Les – “Vibrato” Wide Shoulder Jar

$ 11,000.00

Les Namingha is one of those potters who continues to defy expectations in his innovative clay art.  This jar is entitled “Vibrato.”  The shape of the jar, with a wide shoulder and short neck, is inspired by historic Sikyatki forms.  The neck of the jar has triangular mountain designs.  The top of the shoulder has mountain geometrics in red. Note the spiraling black lines.  That is how Les depicts the traditional Hopi migration design!  The side of the jar has a checkerboard pattern meant to represent the mountains in the distance with the blue sky and green for trees. The base is stunning with a swirling, interlocking linear design.  The migrations are connecting.  It is a bold and creative jar!  The jar is signed, “Les Namingha”.  Once again Les creates such thoughtful work and challenges the viewer to find a deeper meaning in each piece!
