James Garcia Nampeyo was a son of Leah Garcia Nampeyo, a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo, and a great-grandson of Nampeyo of Hano. This is a classic seed bowl. It is paitned with bee-weed and red clay. There are four swirling birds on the stop of the piece alogn with four tiny dragonflies. There is a lot of great detail in the design for size. The black is bee-weed (a plant). The bowl was traditionally fired to give it the coloration with some slight blushes. It is signed on the bottom, “James G. Nampeyo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

The top is painted with red clay. The design is an eagle tail pattern that extends over the shoulder. There is a lot of great detail in the design. The black is bee-weed (a plant). It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
