$ 125.00

Melda Garcia Nampeyo is a great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano.  She is a granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo and a daughter of Leah Garcia Nampeyo.  This jar has a migration pattern encircling the shoulder of the piece.  The migration pattern on this jar has an upper row of bird wings.  The lines are painted with bee-weed (black). There is an additional red clay slip near the neck and base as part of the design. The migration design is a classic Hopi-Tewa pattern revived by Nampeyo of Hano and tells the story of the migration of the people around the world.  The jar is traditionally fired to create the coloration on the surface of the jar.  It is signed, “Melda Nampeyo”.  It is in very good conditoion with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
