Naranjo, Marian Rose & Ernest – Small Jar with Realistic and Mimbres Rabbits (1970s)
$ 250.00
Marian Naranjo worked with her husband, Ernest Naranjo, in the early 1970s. She would make and polish the pottery while he would etch the designs. Later, she would work in the 1980s with Kevin Naranjo and continue in a similar style of teamwork. This is one of her classic shapes with a round shoulder and short neck. The jar is very thin-walled. It is fully polished and fired red. One side has a realistic rabbit in the flowers. The opposite side has a Mimbres rabbit running. Separating the two sides are geometric cloud and rain patterns. The jar is tightly etched using the various levels of clay to create the colorations. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Ernest & Marian Rose”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
