Rose Naranjo is the matriarch of one of the amazing families at Santa Clara Pueblo.  Descendants include Roxanne Swentzell, Jody Folwell, Susan Folwell, Johnathan Naranjo, Rose Simpson, Nora Naranjo-Morse, and many others!  It is not often that we come across her pottery. This is a large wedding vase made from micaceous clay.  There is one of her iconic lizards in relief on one side. The piece was traditionally fired to create strong fire-clouds on the surface.  The vase has a third place ribbon from the 1982 Santa Fe Indian Market (signed by Al Qoyawayma and Robert Gallegos!).  It is signed on the bottom, “Rose Naranjo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is a unique piece by this influential matriarch.
