Naranjo, Stephanie – Polychrome Clay Alligator

This is a clay polychrome alligator by Stephanie Naranjo. Stephanie is a granddaughter of Luther Gutierrez and a great-niece of Margaret Gutierrez. Stephanie learned to make pottery from her father and great-aunt.  Each piece is made from native clay and painted with clay slips and traditionally fired. The alligator is painted with five squares of design on the back.  There is a bee, catepillar, fish, ant, and insect.  All the various colors are from native clay slips.  It is signed, “Stephanie”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
