Navasie, Maynard & Veronica – 8″ Tall Jar with Swirling Birds (1990s)

Maynard Navasie (1945-2003) was a son of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie. He learned to make pottery from his mother. Veronica (b. 1945) is a daughter of Laura Prestson. They worked together on much of their pottery. This jar is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and a deep red clay slip. The jar has a cylindrical shape. It is very tightly painted with flowing Sikyatki style birds. Each of the four sections is different. The jar is signed on the bottom with a Frog hallmark and his initials, “M.N & V.N.”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
