Once Known – 12″ Tall Polychrome Water Jar with Plant Designs (ca. 1915)

This is an impressive, large San Ildefonso polychrome water jar.  It is from around 1915-20 and painted from the top to the bottom, in this later style.  The jar has an elegant shape with a round body and turned-out rim.  While the painting is elegant, there is not enough definitive imagery to give the jar an attribution, so we say it is by a potter and painter once known.  The surface of the jar is a reflection of the traditional firing process.  It is in very good condition with no cracks, restoration, or repair.
