Panana, Ruby – 11″ Tall Storage Jar with Parrots, Clouds, and Rainbows

Ruby Panana began making pottery in 1983.  She is a granddaughter of Joe and Ascenicona Galvan Pino and a daughter of Seferina Bell.  Her sisters Eleanor Griego and Reyes Pino are also potters.  This large jar is coil-built and has a high shoulder and a turned out rim. The base of the jar is polished red. The piece is painted with parrots on each side, under a red polished rainbow.  Separating them are traditional Zia cloud and rain designs.  It is a striking and complicated piece on a traditional shape. It is signed on the bottom, “Ruby Panana”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
