Panana, Ruby – Tall Water Jar with Hummingbirds and Fluted Rim

Ruby Panana began making pottery in 1983.  She is a granddaughter of Joe and Ascenicona Galvan Pino and a daughter of Seferina Bell.  Her sisters Eleanor Griego and Reyes Pino are also potters.  This large water jar is coil-built and has a high shoulder and a fluted rim. The neck of the jar has two hummingbirds, along with large cloud patterns.  The inside neck of the jar is fully polished.  The large clouds are also fully polished.  It is a striking and complicated piece on a traditional shape. It is signed on the bottom, “Ruby Panana”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
