8"w x 7.25"h

$ 900.00

This is a colorful water jar by Franklin Peters.  He is known for his thin-walled pottery and use of traditional Acoma imagery on his pottery. The jar is coil-built with native clay and painted with bee-weed (black). The jar has four Mimbres style birds, each painted inside a larger star pattern.  Each bird is a bit whimsical and each is different in design.  They are surrounded by rain and plant designs . It is a complex and creative design. The rim of the jar has a painted “spirit line”, which is often seen on Acoma pottery.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Frankie J. Huwaka”.
