This is a colorful water jar by Franklin Peters. He is known for his thin-walled pottery and use of traditional Acoma imagery on his pottery. The jar is coil-built with native clay and painted with bee-weed (black). The jar has interlocking birds in red and orange clay and painted clouds. There are terraced clouds and fine-line designs near the base. The rim of the jar has a painted “spirit line”, which is often seen on Acoma pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Franklin Peters”.

The jar is coil built with native clay and painted with bee-weed (black). The jar has four panels of design. There are rain, cloud, and plant patterns. Note the use of the thin lines. There is a lot of complex design imagery for the size. The rim of the jar has a painted “spirit line”, which is often seen on Acoma pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Franklin Peters”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
