This is an amazing miniature by Jeff Roller.  He creates exceptional traditional pottery.  Not only is there remarkable attention to the crisp carved lines in his work, but an evenness to his stone-polished surfaces. Add to that his distinctive sculptural additions to his pottery, and he creates something unique in Santa Clara pottery.  This is one of his classic designs in miniature!  The jar is coil-built, carved, and stone-polished.  The jar has carved mountains, clouds, and lightning.  The lid is a tiny standing Big Horn Sheep that is sculpted from Santa Clara clay!  Check out the detail on the Big Horn Sheep for the size!  While the jar is polished, the lid is matte.  Both were fired a brown coloration.  It is stunning in person!  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jeff Roller”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
