Russell Sanchez continues to be one of the true innovators in Pueblo pottery. Each piece is coil-built, stone-polished, and etched. This is a large jar from 1993. The body of the jar is matte tan. The top is polished a deep red coloration. The red area is surrounded by inset turquoise beads. The jar has a carved shell lid that is also polished red on each side. It is a simple but classic jar. The jar is signed, “Russell Sanchez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

The piece has a low shoulder and a turned-out rim. The inside of the rim is polished red. The exterior is polished tan and there is a single bear paw as the design.
