Russell Sanchez continues to be one of the true innovators in Pueblo pottery. Each piece is coil-built, stone-polished, and traditionally fired. It is a round cylinder that is fully polished. It is etched with rain clouds, swirling around the piece. There are 60 inset pieces of turquoise on the jar. There are two inset rows of hematite hei-shi beads. The bear lid it two-toned sienna. There is a turquoise stone on the back and two for the eyes. It is exciting to see one of his smaller round boxes with a bear lid! All the stones are inset after firing. The jar is elegant in shape and design with a modern strength. It is signed, “Russell ’25”.
