This is a striking plate by Russell Sanchez. The plate is polished red in the center and tan on the edge. There are two carved bands that are matte. In the center, there is an etched Mimbres antelope as the design. While all the polishing, etching, and carving are done before, the stone and hei-shi are all added after firing. There are three bands of shell and turquosie hei-shi beads that are inset into the plate. The plate was traditionally fired. The plate is signed on the bottom in the clay with his kayak hallmark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
