$ 575.00

Stetson Setalla is a grandson of Paqua Naha (Frogwoman) and the son of Pauline Setalla. His brother Dee and sisters Gwen Setalla and Agnes Nahsonhoya also make pottery. Stetson began making pottery at the age of 19.  This is a large jar with a wide shoulder and a short neck.  It is fully painted around the shoulder of the jar. There are sections with feathers that are painted with three different clay slips.  There are sections with eagle tails, clouds, and mountains.  It is a design that flows across the surface of the jar.  Note the use of four different colors of clay in addition to the black bee-weed.  There are strong blushes from the firing. It is signed on the back.  It is signed with his name “S. Setalla” and a raincloud.
