Stella Shutiva was renowned for her corrugated pottery. Her style was inspired by pre-historic style corrugated vessels and a continuation of the pottery by her mother, Jessie Garcia. This is a classic corrugated bowl with a straight rim. There are 22 rows of coiling. Each row is indented or pinched, into the clay to create the impressed design. The piece is signed, “S. Shutiva”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Stella Shutiva was renowned for her corrugated pottery vessels. She was a daughter of noted potter Jessie Garcia, sister of Anita Lowden, and the mother of Jacquie Shutiva-Hista. Her corrugated style of pottery was inspired by pre-historic style corrugated vessels.
