Mary Singer was known for her intricately carved pottery and figurative work. This is one of her classic carved bowls. There is an avanyu encircling the piece. Her carving is deep but it her polishing that is always distinctive. The interior is also fully polished. Each piece has a perfectly polished surface. The bowl was fired a deep black. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. The piece is signed, “Mary Singer”. While she no longer makes pottery, her work can be found in museums nationwide.

Mary Singer is a daughter of potter Pablita Chavarria and the sister of noted potters Reycita Naranjo, Clara Shije, and Elizabeth Naranjo. Mary is well known for her large-sized pottery and very complicated carved designs.
