Mary Singer was known for her intricately carved pottery and figurative work. This is one of her few small pieces. It is carved with a feather design around the neck and an avanyu around the body of the piece. Her carving is deep but it her polishing that is always distinctive. The interior is also fully polished. Each piece has a perfectly polished surface. The bowl was fired a deep black. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. Her carving is deep but it her polishing that is always distinctive. The interior is also fully polished. Each piece has a perfectly polished surface. The bowl was fired a deep black. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. The piece is signed, “Mary Singer”. While she no longer makes pottery, her work can be found in museums nationwide.
