Apolonia Sisneros is a distinctive early Santa Clara Pueblo potter. Her pieces are both carved and painted. This jar has a round shoulder and short neck. It is painted with a plant and rain design. The piece has been traditionally fired to a silvery black coloration. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Apolonia Sisneros”.

Apolonia Sisneros is one of the few potters who began making classic Santa Clara pottery in the 1930's. Her pieces are both carved and polished.
