Swentzell, Roxanne – “No Roots” Original Clay Figure (1998)

17" long x 14.5"h

$ 12,000.00

This is a classic original clay piece by Roxanne Swentzell.  It is entitled “No Roots”.  It is one of the iconic clay figures by Roxanne.  The figure is looking down at her navel with her feet extended.  Roxanne said of this piece:

“This original clay sculpture is looking for her connection to who and where she’s from by searching for her belly button. She has none. It’s a statement on how important our ancestors are and how, when we lose that connection, we become alone and disconnected from who we are at a basic level. She’s a reminder to stay connected or reconnect with our ancestry.”

The piece has a lot of expression in her face and movement in her hands and feet!  It is painted to have the look of clay.  The story, size, and complexity of the piece create a powerful expression of Roxanne’s clay art.  This figure is signed “ROX” and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
