This is a classic original clay piece by Roxanne Swentzell.  It is entitled “Sing, Sing a Song“.  It is one of the iconic clay figures by Roxanne.  The figure is one of her pieces that can sit on a shelf or pedestal.  The clay figure is wearing headphones and listening to music.  She is holding a cassette player, which seems typical for the time period, and I suppose today would be replaced with a phone.  The figure is singing and has a great expression on her face.  There is a lot of movement in her hands and feet as well.  Roxanne said of this piece:

“My teenage daughter loves to sing along to music, I find it very entertaining. She puts on her headphones and, suddenly the rest of the world disappears. She exist solely in the sounds of that plastic music box.”

It is painted with dark coloration to the body and reddish-brown hair.  The story, size, and complexity of the piece create a powerful expression of Roxanne’s clay art.  This figure is signed “ROX”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
