This is a classic miniature seedpot by Ray Tafoya.  The piece is fully polished and oval in shape.  It is one of his few pieces with a realistic animal.  There is a realistically etched antelope on the side and top.  It is surrounded by cloud and rain designs.  All the different colors are derived from natural clay slips with four different colors of clay added to this piece.  Note how many of the designs surrounding the angelope are similar to ones used today by his daughter, Jennifer Tafoya.  The seedpot is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with his hallmark which means “White Mountain” in Tewa.
