Tafoya-Sanchez, Linda – “Kaleidoscope” Plum-Colored Jar with 324 Carved Sections

8"w x 8.25"h

$ 3,600.00

This is a complex jar by Linda Tafoya-Sanchez.  This jar is elegant in person relative to the shape, polish, and size.  The piece has a round body and a short neck. The jar is entitled, “Kaleidoscope” for all the small carved areas.  Linda said she was inspired by stained glass windows and all the small sections that come together to create a larger design.  Amazingly, this jar has 324 carved sections!  It is time consuming to carved each section symmetrically and then polish each one separately!  They are interlocking combinations of diamond and triangular shapes.  Each one is stone polished!  The neck and base are also fully polished.  Scan in to see the polishing and precision of her carving.  However, step back and you can see how all the sections create one larger, fluid design!    The piece was traditionally fired to create this deep plum, almost purple, coloration.  Congrats to Linda for taking the time to create such a creative and beautiful jar! It is signed on the bottom, “Linda Tafoya-Sanchez”.
