This is a classic tall jar by Linda Tafoya-Sanchez. This jar has a round shape which creates a lot of space for design. The jar has six panels carved into the clay, each with a different design. There is a bear paw track, avanyu and clouds, butterfly, rainclouds, squash plant, and flower. Each section is deeply carved and highly polished. The neck and base are also fully polished. There is a band at the neck and the base that are slipped with mica. The jar was traditionally fired a deep black coloration. The jar has a very modernist appearance and yet is classic in traditional design elements. It is signed on the bottom, “Linda Tafoya-Sanchez”.
