Tafoya, Vangie – Large Seedpot with Three Hummingbirds

Vangie Tafoya (b. 1944) is a granddaughter of Maria Sanchez Colaque and the mother of Helen Henderson and Brenda Tafoya.  She is known for her polished and incised pottery.  This large seedpot is fully polsihed and etched with designs.  There are three large medallions on the seedpot.  Each has a hummingbird and a flower.  They are surrounded by feather designs.  The top has a tiny etched rain design. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “V. Tafoya”.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
