Tenorio, Robert – 10″ Jar with Four Birds, Four Fish, and Flowers (2006)
$ 1,200.00
This is a creative fully painted jar by Robert Tenorio. The bowl is painted with wild spinach (black) and clay slips on a cream-colored clay slip base. The outside of the bowl has four Pueblo birds, along with large flowers. The birds are very traditional in design and the flowers are more intricate in coloration. The inside has four large fish. Each fish is different in design. In the very center of the bowl is an impressed hand, which you can see in the photos. Note on one side of the design there is a “heartline” that extends from the rim through the designs. This is a break in the painted design and a traditional aspect of Kewa pottery. The jar was traditionally fired outdoors. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Robert Tenorio, Kewa”. It was made in 2006. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
