$ 150.00

Delanie “Dee” Tootsie (b. 1962) is a granddaughter of Ned Nayatewa and Norma Adams.  She is from the Village of Sichomovi.  This small jar has an asymmetric shape.  It is painted with bee-weed and clay slips. There is a Hemis Mana katsina on one side.   She is holding the gourd she uses to create the sound of rain during the Katsina dance.  The remainder of the piece has cloud and rain designs.  The small jar was traditionally fired.  It is signed, “D. Tootsie”  with a Roadrunner below to represent her Roadrunner/Asah Clan.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repaired

Dee says of her pottery:

I started making pottery at a young age. I learned from my grandmother. Designs are from all types of patterns. I have always been independent and have depended upon pottery for my main source of income. All my pots are different; I hardly ever make the same designed pottery. Most of my work is miniature, and they make nice souvenir items. All my work is done traditionally using all native products. I am interested in traveling and seeing other countries with my pottery. I am still young and hope to make new friends.”
