This is a classic storyteller by Henrietta Toya-Gachupin.  This figure is coil-built and painted with clay slips.  There are four kids in her arms, along with two on the feet.  It is painted in the classic Jemez storyteller style. It is signed on the bottom, “Henrietta Toya-Gachupin”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Henrietta is related to Fannie Loretto, Mary Ellen Toya, Anita Toya, Verernida Toya, Yolanda Toya Toledo, and Melinda Toya Fragua.  Henrietta Toya Gachupin also says that she gains her inspiration from the clay; when she puts her hands into the clay, it speaks to her of shapes to make and designs to paint.
