8"w x 6.25"h

$ 3,300.00

This is a striking large jar by Dora Tse-Pe.  She learned to make pottery from her mother-in-law, Rose Gonzales, and continued her work in a similar style of carving.  The jar has a wide shoulder and a short, sloping neck.  The top and bottom are fully polished.  The central band is slipped with mica.  The jar was fired a glassy black.  There is a single inset piece of turquoise for the eye.  The jar is perfectly polished, which is what Rose was known for in her pottery!  The piece was made in 1990.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Dora of San Ildefonso”.
