Tso, Jared – “Youngest Brother” Black Fired Jar, “Best of Pottery” Gallup Ceremonials 2026
$ 9,200.00
This is a striking new jar by Jared Tso. The jar is part of his “Blanket Series”, as he is creating coil-built pieces that have the folds and look of a blanket. He is a grandson of potter Faye Tso and his pottery is exceptionally refined in technique and traditional in style. Each piece is coil-built from traditional native Navajo clay and traditionally fired. This jar has the clay in layers, folding in on itself at the rim. The entire piece is fully polished and then fired a silvery black coloration. The glassy black has areas of color variation on the surface of the piece. It is exceptional in person. It is exciting to see an artist find inspiration in the historic work and, using the same clays, refine them in a modernistic manner. The jar is signed, “Jared Tso”. The jar won “Best of Pottery” at the 2026 Gallup Ceremonials.
