Sandra Victorino is a niece of noted potter Dorothy Torivio.    Sandra has her own unique style of “op-art”, where the patterns start small, then get larger, and then smaller again on the vessel.  This large jar has a high shoulder and an elongated neck.  The jar has interlocking butterfly and flower designs. They extend from the rim to the base.  The precision and detail of the lines are exceptional on this seedpot.  The piece has a visually striking appearance with complex imagery and an exceptional connection of form and design.  It is signed, “Sandra Victorino”.

Sandra Victorino

Sandra Victorino is a niece of noted potter Dorothy Torivio. Under the tutelage of both her mother and her aunt, Sandra has developed her own unique pottery style. Each piece is coil-built and then painted with beeweed, a plant used to create the black (or brownish) designs against the white clay. The red is a native clay slip. Sandra has her own unique style of "op-art," where the patterns start small, then get larger, and then smaller again on the vessel. She has won numerous awards for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market, and her work can be found in numerous museums around the country.
