Irene White usually makes pottery with her husband, Ken. Each piece is made from native clay and coil-built  It is a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques.  This wedding vase has four Yei figures, two male and two female. They are separated by corn plants.  The designs are incised into the clay and then painted and traditionally fired.  The firing creates color variations on the surface. Once it is fired, the piece is covered in pinon-pitch. The wedding vase is signed, “I. W”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
