William Yazzie (Navajo) is known for his detailed pottery designs.  He is a brother-in-law to noted potter Bob Lansing.  Williams taught Bob the techniques of etching and painting pottery.  This jar has a wide shoulder and a short neck. The jar is painted on the edge with geometric bird wing designs.  The top of the shoulder has etched flying geese along with very delicately etched feathers.   It is a complex jar in design.  The designs are highlighted with various colors.  It is signed on the bottom, “William Yazzie”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
