Emma Yeppa (b. 1965) is known for her carved and polished pottery. She began making pottery at age 13 under the guidance of her mother, Ida Yepa. She is a cousin of Marcella Yepa and a niece of Alvina Yepa. This jar is coil-built, carved and stone-polished. The jar has a cylindrical shape with a carved kiva step rim. The body of the jar has 11 swirling melon ribs. Five are polished tan (the natural color of the clay) and six are polished red. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Emma Yepa”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
