$ 200.00
Nolan Youvella was a son of noted potters Iris Nampeyo and Wallace Youvella. He was known for his relief-carved pottery. This small bowl is carved around the shoulder with four bird wings. The rim is also carved with a spiraling sun design. The recessed area was slipped red and the remainder was polished tan, the natural color of the clay. The bowl was traditionally fired so there are slight blushes on the surface. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Nolan Y. Nampeyo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
