Leland Vallo was a son of noted potter, Marie Vallo, and the brother of Kim Vallo. He learned to make pottery from his mother and began making pottery in 1991. This jar is coil-built, thin-walled, and intricately painted. The jar has a corrugated rim with four rows of corrugation. The jar is painted with four medallions, each featuring a Pueblo deer dancer. They are surrounded by very tightly painted feathers and rain designs. Below the shoulder is a classic Tularosa Swirl design in black-and-white. The jar is signed on the bottom, “L. Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
