This long neck jar by Alice Cling has exceptional colorations from the firing. The jar has a sharp shoulder and an elongated neck. It is polished in a swirl around the neck of the piece. Alice Cling is one of the great names in the revival of Navajo pottery in the 1980s. This jar is coil-built and stone polished. The jar was traditionally fired outdoors and has strong colorations from black to red on the surface. The jar was covered in pinon-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when the pitch was used to make the pottery utilitarian. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alice Cling”. Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “Legacy of Generations.”
