This is a classic water jar by Robert Patricio.  Robert is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This piece is coil-built from native clay and thin-walled. It has a high shoulder and short neck.  The neck of the jar has painted stars. The body has a double rainbow in red and orange clays.  Below the rainbows are fields, flowers, and clouds.  It is a tightly painted and complex piece!  Robert is one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today, evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.
