These are three polychrome pieces from Santa Clara Pueblo. The red jar with a feather design is by Ramona Tapia (1940-2003), who was a daughter of noted potter Dolorita Gutierrez and a niece of Celestina Naranjo. She was the mother of Sarah, Lee, and Michelle Tapia. She was known for both her painted and carved pottery. This jar is polished red and has white, pink, and blue clay slips on the feather design. It is from the 1960s, and it is signed, “Ramona Tapia” on the bottom. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
The red bowl with the triangle mountain design is by Glenda Naranjo (b. 1953), who is a daughter of Flora Naranjo. The bowl is polished red and has alternating matte red and black mountains. It is from the 1970s, it is signed, “Glenda Naranjo,” and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
The large jar is unsigned. It is from the 1950’s and has a classic plant and rain design. There are red, pink, blue, and taupe colorations, which are typical for the 1950s period. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
